This corner of Purbeck moves more used cars than anywhere else I work, and it's mostly down to Bovington. Service families post in, post out, and buy and sell cars on a quicker cycle than most — usually privately, usually in a hurry, and usually without a garage they've known for years to lean on.

So in Wool I lead with one service above the rest: the pre-purchase inspection. Before you hand over money for a used car, I go over it — the things a test drive and a glossy advert won't show you — and tell you plainly what it needs now, what's coming, and whether the price is fair. It's a fraction of the cost of the problem it saves you from, and I'll show you what I find rather than just hand you a list.

The kind of thing I find

This leaf spring looked fine from three paces. Corrosion like this is exactly what an inspection is for — better in my photo than under your car.
